Meet Darryl Lim

Managing Partner

Darryl Lim is the Managing Partner of the Billyard Insurance Group (BIG) Alta Vista location in Ottawa. He is proud to lead a diverse team of licensed brokers and support staff who are eager to serve their clients and communities.

Prior to opening the BIG Alta Vista office, Darryl was an award-winning Insurance Agent where he was consistently recognized as a top sales producer and received numerous accolades for his outstanding sales and customer service. Darryl is both a personal and commercial lines broker specializing in 5 unique demographics and market segments:

4. Law Enforcement Professionals

Darryl is known in the community as a networker and educator. He takes great pleasure in learning about each client’s needs, find solutions to help protect what’s important to clients, and giving them the peace of mind that they are property insured. Taking care of each client and earning their loyalty is what brings him the greatest satisfaction. In fact, many clients have become friends over the years.

An alumnus of both Carleton University and Griffith University (Australia), Darryl holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Anthropology as well as an Advanced Diploma in Mass Communications. He is a proud veteran who served 2.5 years in the Army, and 11 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Pipes & Drums as the Drum Sergeant and principal percussionist.

Outside of work, Darryl is actively involved in the pipe band community as a competitor, adjudicator, emcee and Drum Major at numerous Scottish Festivals and Highland Games across Ontario and Eastern Canada. He co-founded the Ottawa Caledonian Pipes & Drums in 2016 and serves as their Drum Major. In his spare time, Darryl is an avid traveler and creates whisky reviews on his YouTube channel.
